About Serpent & the Swan

Sydney based Serpent & The Swan is a female-run fine jewellery label looking to redefine everyday jewellery. Born from a forever love of animals, nature and music, every piece is unique and sustainable handmade in studio. Each earring, necklace, ring, and bracelet is made to be treasured and passed down through generations I started my career in fashion, studying a bachelor of design at university before moving on to start my own label, Serpent and the Swan. In fashion, I worked internationally, interning directly under Alexander McQueen and even presenting at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week here in Sydney. When working on collections and preparing for Fashion Week, I could never find jewellery that complimented my vision. I loved mediaeval jewellery, specifically memento mori jewellery. I was, and still am fascinated with the connections from art to the human body and nature, but I could never find anything I liked that fit the dichotomy of the Serpent and The Swan. I wanted something that was hard but soft, tough yet delicate, and strong but subtle. I didn’t want anything that played by the rules, so I created my own. Although fashion will always be my first fascination, jewellery has since been my main focus after starting jewellery-making classes. I fell for the traditional craft of handmade jewellery, transitioning full-time from fashion to jewellery.
