Mantrans LLC

We are going on week three waiting for our transmission that was promised in less than a week. The owner seems very knowledgeable but is never available. The employees will not or can not answer any questions regarding anything regarding what he is working on or where he is. It's been super frustrating working with this company.

on 6/26/19 i ordered a transmission and swap kit for my truck that came to the amount of $4300.00 dollars i have not received all the parts that have been promised to me on a weekly basis it is now 10/4/2019 the original order should of only taken 7 to 10 business days to complete that is the only reason i went with mantrans LLC. for the short turnaround i'm sick of calling and asking when my parts will be here just to hear all the sales guys and owner tell me its on its way only to find out that one or two things came in the mail. i have looked up all my missing parts they are extremely easy to get from the manufacture or other resources they still owe me 450.00 dollars

Man Trans, LLC. is not a good company to do business with. Believe the bad reviews and the "F" BBB rating. I thought I was getting a good deal and while initially speaking with them I thought it sounded like they knew what they were doing, and thought the reviews were just bitter customers (there are always some). After speaking with Darryl (the owner) several times and working out the details of the transmission I wanted, I placed the order over the phone (no paper or email agreement- lesson learned). The agreed time for shipping came and went and after many weeks delayed I got the transmission (5/2018). The transmission was installed and it always shifted poorly, would grind gears and difficult to get in gear while stopped or downshifting. I learned how to make it work and used the transmission as it was for my truck that was used very little (not a daily driver and mainly used to haul the family and camper half a dozen times a year). I was using the 75W-90 gear oil that Darryl says must be used (not many companys make this requirement). Several times I changed brands of fluid and tried using a 30W full synthetic MTF which seemed to shift better. But transmission temperatures would always climb to 240-250 degrees after a couple hours trailer tow. Due to this I made an external cooler system that pumped the fluid from the trans through a filter and fan cooled radiator and was able to keep fluid temps below 190. This summer (7/2019) was the BIG family vacation hauling camper to Yellowstone for a 10 day tour. We made it half way through South Dakota from eastern Missouri when the transmission started making noise. We made it to a shop up there and contacted Mantrans (MT) for warranty assistance. Anthony was very helpful and assured me there was still warranty coverage and that I needed to ship the trans to them for any repairs. That was an option being in the middle of SD with family, so I was on the hook for repairs on my own. Decided to cut filter open to look for metal. No metal. Installed new filter and new fluid and chose to attempt to limp it home. Thankfully we made it home. Now to get that agreed upon warranty coverage. I removed trans and called to discuss with Darryl. We came to a nice agreement that instead of MT paying for both way shipping and repairs, I could have a local specialist do the work (MT was very busy and backlogged) and we would split the labor ($1800- $900 each). MT would provide the hard parts as needed with photo evidence and agreement. Sounds good. That was the end of good relations. After disassembling the trans we found the damage and it required about $500 in parts (his cost). The damage was clear and Darryl immediately blamed it on a vibration in the driveline and he would do nothing until that was fixed. There was no defects in the driveline and the defect was obviously caused by 6th gear bearing surface hardness not being correct, which caused the 6th gear needle bearing to gaul and damage the main shaft. Other defects were from the time of build at MT. The counter shaft fwd bearing should be a press fit and it could be removed and installed by hand, an extra shim was installed that is not needed and the reg shim had been sanded on, the main shaft nut had been used several times over and using the chisel technique to remove/install not using the correct special socket (the nut was not staked either). That right there was the sign that these guys do shoddy work, no quality control, and cut every corner to save a dime and then hope it makes it past warranty coverage..... if it doesn't, they just lie to you and tell you what ever they can to get you off the phone thinking they are doing something about it. Eventually if you keep calling they will pass you around and maybe get to speak with Darryl (He's very busy you know) so that he can accuse you of lieing about the damage or there was a problem with the vehicle that caused the trans issue, eventually leading to him cussing you and hanging up. It is unbelievable that this company is still open. It starts at the top with Darryl, then down to Anthony, James, and Sean; they all lie to you. Anthony is the phone answering guy and talks very politley and he'll be your 'Buddy", Sean and James just say they are doing something and Don't! Then you have Darryl, what can you say, he is the ultimate Shaddy Used Car Salesman. You will get that feeling when talking to him, you'll tell yourself "This guy knows what he is talking about" and he probably does. That is sadly how he knows what to do to RIP us off! Darryl will go from talking nicely, to cussing you, to saying he is gonna do what he said (maybe after a sob story about all the bills he just got , and money is tight, so he'll have to send payments until full amount is reached, or "yes sir, we are shipping the parts today"). DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company!! To wrap it up, I purchased a trans from them in which I was led to believe had a 3 year warranty and it was confirmed (by Anthony) that warranty coverage was good when I had problems at 1 yr and 3 months. They will lie and lie all to not do what they agreed upon! Do yourself a favor and purchase your trans from another company, the few hundred dollars difference is worth it!! MT has no rebuttal to this review, It is all fact. What ever they reply with will only be another lie! They SUCK! And I'm out thousands$ for repairs....

They guarranteed it would only take 1 week for my transmission to fixed and sent back to me. We own a business and the transmission was out of one of the work trucks. We scheduled upcoming work around being down a truck for a week or two at most, however one week from mantrans turned into over a month of excuses, lies, being told it was on its way back just to find out they lied again. 6 or so weeks later and they FINALLY sent our transmission back. There were other options for us to repair this transmission but we went with mantrans because of their "guaranteed one week turn around". Their deceitful business practices cost us a lot of business, and in turn cost us a lot of customers who, like us, grew tired of waiting. Being that this group is also a service based business, you would think they would understand that but they lie, promise things they never plan on delivering in a time frame they never intended to stick to, but they are quick to take thousands of dollars from you.
