Since inception in 1990, Karavalli has grown to be an institution when it comes to South west coast flavours. Modelled on a traditional Mangalorean bungalow, and surrounded by lush tamarind trees, the restaurant is inspired by the architecture of coastal South India. Ingredients from the coast, such as cloves, cinnamon, pepper, home grown chillies and only the freshest vegetables and finest meats make it to the menu. The chef and team have painstakingly preserved India’s most refined culin ary traditions from our rich heritage by restoring age old recipes, decades of researching meeting with locals and recreating forgotten flavours of a glorious bygone era. Nestled among two giant ‘old as the hills’ Tamarind trees, and tucked away from the noisy bustle of traffic, lays the pride and joy of The Taj Gateway Hotel, a breathtakingly beautiful sea-food restaurant ‘Karavalli’.
