The Cycle Shop was incorporated in January 1924 and operated out of several locations. The business was originally organized by Rudolph Lundberg, Ludwig Anderson and Axel Pearson. Lundberg took over the operations in 1925. In 1949, Harry Lundberg and his sister, Margit Jones, acquired the business. Lundberg’s son Dennis, acquired Mrs. Jones interest in 1962 and entered into partnership with his father. In 1965 the corporation purchased the former Nelson Department Store annex building at 10 0 East Second Street at the foot of Pine Street and expanded into four stories of operation. In 1976, Dennis Lundberg acquired his father’s interest and became sole owner and president. In 1977, the Cycle Shop was designated developer of the present location at 10 Harrison Street and erected a 16,000 square foot building to house its expanded operation. The Cycle Shop started selling motorcycles in 1925, including Harley Davidsons. The motorcycle sales were discontinued in 1953. The early years also featured firearms, fishing tackle, toys, boats and outboard motors. The Cycle Shop was a Schwinn bicycle dealer from 1936 to 2002, and from 1936 to 1976 a Johnson Outboard motor dealer. The Cycle Shop is one of the oldest continuously operating snow ski and snowboard retailers in the Eastern United States, having gotten started into the business in 1956. In 1974, a division named the Jock Shop was established to specialize in Team Sports, Team Uniforms and athletic footwear. The Jock Shop was the first outlet for Nike, Reebok, and Avia footwear in the area. In 1980, the textile screen printing division was established to do custom printing on uniforms, jackets and hats. A satellite store, the Jock Shop of Warren in the Market Street Plaza, was opened in 1982. A decade later it was relocated to the Warren Mall, and again relocated to 216 Liberty Street, specializing in sporting goods and team sports. In 1996 the Jamestown Cycle Shop took over operations at Chautauqua Bike Rent on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. Chautauqua Bike Rent has a fleet of more than 400 Comfort, mountain, road, and youth bikes and provides sales and service of all brands in the area. All told, it is estimated the Jamestown Cycle Shop has sold more than 70,000 bicycles since its opening in 1924 and more than 29,000 skis and snowboards. In 2002 the business was acquired by its present owners, Gary Evans, Randy Marsh and Steve Deyo.??
