Cake+Loaf was established over one ‘worlds colliding’ coffee date! Meeting in the Bakery Apprentice Class at Niagara College, both Josie and Nickey found common ground with a shared passion and hometown of Hamilton. Dreaming of owning and operating their own bake shop …it was entrepreneurial love at first sight… The dream was simple – We believe a small business should be about creating meaningful employment, creating a space that allows for creativity and creating an awesome team within a dynamic atmosphere. Being genuinely passionate about food and sustainability also focused our business concept. When everything aligned, we knew our little cornerstone would soon become a Kirkendall neighborhood hub! Our goal was to provide our employees with a creative, lively, environmentally conscience and career minded space. We can happily announce that we reached a milestone when it came to key points in our business plan; Living Wage was one goal that we were able to attain ahead of schedule. This means a lot to us and will forever be the forefront of our future planning, funneling everything back to our employees who are the backbone of our little slice of pie!
